Thank you

Juliet

Finding a job is difficult.

For young people nowadays it's tough to find your first job. I came across this idea the other day which I thought was great...

Go and have a look and tell me what you think.

Hi from Solihull

Hi hope you are well in Cholet. The weather has been glorious here in Solihull - not a cloud in the sky over half-term which has been a welcome change. This is exactly what happened last year however - and then we had nothing but rain and more rain until the autumn. Toes crossed that it is not a repeat of last year!!!!

Just a quick note to say that we are all really looking forward to receiving our guests in May. I hope to arrange a lunchtime get-together at Solihull College again for everyone to meet up on the Friday - and all my students are really looking forward to meeting French friends - new and old!!!! Can't believe it is nearly a year since we had our marvellous trip to see you! Time flies so fast these days!

Come prepared! Bring both your suncream and your umbrellas as I cannot guarantee what sort of weather we will have in May. It is usually a very pretty month however - with all the spring flowers and blossoms in full bloom. That is if the torrential rain doesn't get to them first!

I'll sign off now and wish you all a very happy weekend

See you all soon

Love Lindsey xx

Accomodation in France

Personally I prefer "Camping à la ferme" but from time to time I do like to stay at a special B&B.

http://www.sawdays.co.uk/accommodation/france/

This is a nice website to look at and to dream of special places to stay.

If you know of any nice B&B's let me know.

You never know it might come in handy.

76-150 euros are the prices for 4 star accomodation.

38-75 euros for 3 stars

I think that these prices are a little expensive because it's not a touristic region and people must pay only for the castle (nothing to do or to visit all around). With 650 euros, you can found an interesting stay for 2 persons in foreign country (for example Tunisie, Maroc ...).

A Friend from Solihull

I'm sitting here with a woman from Solihull she used to live on Hillfield. She's just bought a fantastic Château near Thouars. A four star B&B. You can go and have a look at it here's the website:

Very interesting low season rates !!

Let me know what you think.

I'd just like to make sure that all the French actually know where Solihull is. So here is a little map to put you in the picture.

To Dave and the group of Solihull,

Thank you very much for the message, we are very happy to see everyone on the photo, it reminds us of good time during our last stay in Solihull and we are very pleased to receive your group in the begining of May. We have not yet made the planning, it will be done soon, during next months (now it's school holidays and we have no english lesson).
How is the weather now in England ?
In our region it's a very fine weather, a little cold in the morning but in the afternoon it's like in Spring, many trees are begining to flower.
It's very pleasant, we can go for walks in the country, We hope the weather will be fine when you come in France !
I will try to improve my english at home on internet sites ("learning english" and "anglais facile").
Very nice day for everyone !!!
Looking forward to seeing you soon

4L Trophy

Do you know 4L Trophy
It's a humanitarian's raid in 4L from Paris to Marrakech (Marroco). There are about 1500 4L so 3000 students who participate. Each 4L brings about 50 kgs of school material. That will be delivered to the children. The smiles of these children will be the joy of the students when they will be arrive.

Today my eldest son who is student participate to this raid. He has left Paris. The departure takes place in Paris and Bordeaux. Everybody are very exciting. They go to Algeciras. Then they'll take the boat until Fes where the adventure begins.

A day in the life of a 4L Trophy :
- In the morning, after a special Moroccan breakfast, they'll have some instructions for the day. Every crew receive the road book with all the information to reach the arrival of the day.
- In the evening, each car goes to the checkpoint to validate its arrival at about 6 p.m.
- Then they go to bed in their tent. They can have a nice evening around a fire with music or repair the car!!!

The arrival in Marrakech will be on the 22th of February.
On the 23th, there will be a closing ceremony (big and nice show).
Most of the crews go back home the next day.

Good luck

Greetings from the Solihull Twinning Association

Last Sunday the Solihull Twinning Assoication held its annual luncheon. It was quite well attended and it was good to see everyone together in somewhere other than France or germany during a visit! After the meal, we managed to get everyone to pose for a group photo - and it was easier said than done.

Everyone sends their best wishes to our French friends.

We are very happy because at Center Horizon in Cholet, we will receive a group of 20 English people in the begining of May. It's a twinning with Solihull, we received them 2 years ago and last year, in 2007, we went to Solihull and had a very warm and fine welcome by English. So it's a pleasure for us to see them again in our town !
Twinning is a very good way to discover a country, another way of life, to have friends and to improve our language.
A very good week-end to everybody.
