to Juliet,

I like music, so can you tell me the hour and the address of the concert in Mauléon, perhaps we will go with 2 friends. How is the name of your husband group ?

My son is in a music group and they have just recorded their second album. The name of their group is "beer beer orchestra" and they have an internet blog. It's french ska-rock-jazz music (very festive) and they give many concerts in the region.

This summer, we went to festival of "Poupet" to see the singer "Sanseverino", do you know him ? it was a very good concert with about 12 musicians and many instruments.

Thank you and perhaps see you soon

Concert 10th November Mauléon

This is just a quick message to let you all know that my husband's group will be playing at our local theatre in Mauléon....and I'd love anyone that lives locally to come along.

They play English 70's Groove; funky blues sort of music. The group is half French and Half Anglo American. ....and there'll be a professional saxophone player from Paris too just for this gig.

The group will be filmed and recorded on this evening and they are currently in studio to record an album. So all their fans can look forward to that!!

The tickets will be 5 euros and free for kids.

Come along it should be fun.

Hi everyone. I hope you are all well.

This week, my daughter is in England with the school. All is ok but there, there is the flu. Instead of being two a family, they are 3 or 4 because many english people are ill.
The weather is fine. They stay in Worthing. Today, they'll go to London and visit Trafalgar square, Westminster, Picadilly, Covent Garden, Tower of London, Tower bridge, busy day...
Yesterday, they visited the National motor museum in Beaulieu. They are lucky...
I hope they won't be ill at their way back. We'll see.

IS IT REALLY THE SAME EUROPEAN CONSTITUTION?

Our newspapers tell us that the proposed amendments to the European Constitution make virtually no difference. It is apparantly 90% the same. What does the French media make of it? Do you and the people you know want a united states of europe?
Thanks for the sympathy for the english rugby team - we had a bit of a party and shouted at the referee on several occasions. However, I think the better team won on the night!

I want to tell you that there is a mistake on the blog : it's written "no comments" at the end of the paragraph "autumn in the England" and in fact there are 3 comments (Claudette, Juliette and me).

Hi from Lindsey!!!!

Hi everyone and hope you are all well! The weather here in Solihull has been lovely recently - at least is hasn't been raining! I think it may be a little colder than with you but we are a little further north!

Life at Solihull College is buzzing again with lots of new students; many with properties in France already - others who intend moving over to live with you on a permanent basis. This year I also have lots of 'returning students' as I am now doing another evening at night school. These are my last year's beginners who want to carry on. It is great fun!!!

As Juliet says - it is lovely to hear from you on the blog - keep writing and I'll be in touch again soon. Looking forward to seeing all the Sunday Lunch Club next year!!!!!!!!

Have a great weekend

Lindsey x

Christiane,
I read your message on the blog October, 15, 2007. You also want to improve your english. It's difficult but pleasant.
You went to romania in 2005. I've never been in Romania but my daughter went there with the association. She was at school (4ème au Bretonnais). She was 14. It was a good experience because life in this country is completely different. The level of living is not the same than in France. They stayed in Dorohoi during about one week. She likes speaking english and the inhabitants speak English very well they don't speak french so she could improve her english.
There they visited the area and the capital Bucarest. She was very impressed by the poverty. A lot of children beg in the street. I don't know if it is the same now.

Bye for now

Autumn in the England

The leaves are turning brown, gold and red. We should have a wonderfull show of autumn colour thanks to all that lovely rain in england! The skies are a little grey at the moment and I would like more sunshine before the winter. However, it is very mild - a good english word! Next week most of the schools in england have a "half term holiday". The Autumn term is very long in England about 13 weeks. The newspapers in England are full of the Rugby World Cup - Allez Les Anglais! I hope you will be shouting and cheering us on! The leader of the 3rd political party the Liberal Democrats has resigned - his party think he is too old at 67years. What do you think? GG from the west midlands.

I have begun my english lessons at IML (municipal institute of language) and it's very interesting. We do a lot of games to improve our english vocabulary. Our teacher is very pleasant and funny.
I want to improve my english because I want to speak fluently with my english friends (Solihull twinning) and I have also romanian friends with another twinning (humanitarian twinning with Volovat). This summer Mortagne received the romanian group of 50 people, 2 of them (young men) were at home during 1 week and we spoke in english with them a long time (they don't speak french). they are very interesting and fine, and we exchange a lot of e.mail with them all over the year. We went to Romania in 2005 and we hope to return there in 2009 (the twining is every 2 years).
Every year we organize a cabaret evening to help this romanian village of Volovat, we are going to send them a fire engine and many other helps have been made (community health center in the village, central heating and toilets in the school)
I would like to have other correspondants in England or in other countries to exchange many ideas with them in english.

Friday, October 12, 2007

Yesterday, it was my third english lesson. My teacher "Juliet" told me to write some news on this blog. It's really good to write something to make progress. Yesterday, a new person was at the english lesson. She speaks very well so this year, my aim is : make progress. So, I'll try to listen to radio, reading english magazine... a lot of things to do! If somebody can give me some advice, it'll be great.

Bye for now

Dominique.

8th May 2008

It 's looking as if this will be the date for the IML's next trip to Solihull; if Solihull are free that weekend??

The "French Sunday Lunch Club" would love to come over to see their friends in Solihull again as we all have such fond memories of our last time together. Everyone seems keen. So let's see if the dates will suit you.

I hope you like the photo of Andrée being a tourist...she's very handy to have around as she always seems to know where to go.

Anyway, I hope all is well in Solihull.
